Future: Resources

A home for all things activism-related, our Resources page focuses on equipping readers with materials to encourage their contribution to the anti-sexist fight.

Human Rights Watch is an educational and inclusive website that documents current, global women’s rights issues. I stumbled upon this page after doing a simple google search for websites regarding women's rights, and immediately, I was shocked by the care and detail the HRW team takes to write their stories. This site covers topics and stories from dozens of countries, making this resource pertinent to each and every passionate activist, no matter where they come from or how they choose to identify.

I found “Your Angry Neighborhood Feminist” one day as I was aimlessly scrolling through my Spotify. After listening to a couple episodes, I became hooked. This podcast takes a humorous approach to confront relevant women’s issues, and in this way, can be considered a lighter and more accessible resource that manages to provide thought-provoking conversations for listeners to tune into.

RAINN

I was first introduced to Rainn by an educator and mentor of mine. I hadn’t heard of the site previously, but figured I’d take a look at what they were sharing. Little did I know, by clicking on that URL, I was transported to a website rich with resources and information. Rainn focuses on sexual violence and provides comprehensible definitions and statistics regarding the issue. See specifically their “How to Help” page to take further direct action fighting against sexually targetted violence.

@feminist

Who doesn’t follow @feminist?! This instagram account is aesthetic and fun and curated for a teen and young-adult audience.  I like this page since it has a niche approach to the topic of feminism. The @Feminist account takes a keen focus to intersectionality and how different identities experience sexism in unique ways, making this an original page that I find is welcoming to all.

How To Be Anti-Racist by Ibram X. Kendi

Written by the acclaimed Ibram X. Kendi, this book provided inspiration for the framework of my Being Anti-Sexist website. In his writing, Kendi explains the concept of taking a more active approach to activism: he claims that empowering people to be anti-racist holds more energy and power than advising people to simply not be racist. In other words, Kendi dissects the contrast between activity and passivity/complacency. I believe that this notion is refreshing and inspiring and have found that when practiced, it enables the activist to hold a more empowered role in their quest to defeat oppressive systems. Although Kendi explains this concept with regards to racism, I think it can be applied to all forms of discrimination. Therefore, I’ve worked to incorporate this practice into the foundation of my Being Anti-Sexist site.
